History
Miss Bennett leads History across the school.
Children are living history. We must show them that studying the legacies of the past will shape their today and tomorrow.
Our aim is for all children to have a sound understanding of key periods throughout history and to develop their enquiry through questioning why things happened in the past and what impact those events have had on today. We want to encourage a love of the subject by allowing enquiry and application of their previous learning into new contexts. Children should be able to make links throughout their years and see each year as a building block to historical success.
At Heighington, we love History!
Below, you will find what History we cover throughout the year and how we teach history. Children are taught from the National Curriculum and we used a spiral based approach to teach skills. The domains are split into content, enquiry and concepts. We teach history based on a two year rolling programme of study. We provide a holistic view of history and you will find the content and skills across other subject areas.
